REFLECTION ABOUT UNITEN

Enjoyable Activities and Events !

There are many activities here that I love to join whether it is  indoor or outdoor activities. Every semesters, there is a lot of activities being held here by every club in UNITEN such as UNITEN's GUA, travelling, mount expedition, competition, seminar, workshop, student exchange and so on. It was so exciting and interesting to join all the events and activities.

Last but not least, the activities which are so famous here is prom night and ladies night ! Of course all of us love to enjoy such event right? Dressing like a prince and princess, enjoying the meal, and watching the interesting shows.

LECTURERS

List of a Few Lecturers in SomeDepartment

Lecturer is someone who delivers lectures, especially professionally. Lecturer usually a member of the faculty of a college or university who having qualified status without rank or tenure.

Well said, lecturer is important in a institution especially for the student. This is because, lecturer teach and share their knowledge with the student so that the student know and understand what they are learned. But if the student still cannot understand with his or her lecturer's teaching, they can find and ask for another lecturer as a guidance and reference for their understanding so that they got many knowledge from many lecturer based on that subject only.

Here is a list of a few lecturers that I know and easy to ask and go on with when I am studying here.

Dr. Mardian Shah Bin Omar

He teach us Bahasa Malayu Korporat. He is quite firm but very professional in his teaching. What I've learn from his class is that the skill of communication and soft skill on how we going to speak and present to the people as a corporate person. Raja Feninfera Binti Raja Azman

She taught us on  Software Quality subject. I've learnt a lot from her class in details about the software itself. She made me to feel excited as i was eager to follow up the next classes. She is funny too. What I like about her is that the way she teach us which we always have a presentation and discussion group on the class and that's how we find it more easily to understand the subject. Alicia Philip

She is currently teaching us for this semester on Business Communication. I've learn a lot from her classes too since she encourages us to improve our oral presentation skill. She is flexible, friendly, can share many ideas and easy to discuss anything regarding our subject. She is also the one who gave us the task to create this blog for our written assignment. :)

REFLECTION ABOUT UNITEN

Orientation Week and UNITEN's Environment 

Hello my readers ! In this entry, I want to talk about Uniten's Orientation Week. Well, when I first come here, I'm very sure that I did not want to attend for the orientation week after the registration session. I really hate it. It's boring and tired to wake up early in the morning, did not get enough rest and it is full of talks and agenda all the time. What  I was thinking on that time is that, was a worst orientation week that I have to go through for a week.

But it was totally wrong because from there, I get to know a lot of friends. It was one of the unforgettable moment that I ever had. The responsible facilitators, the friendly lecturers and the helpful staffs too. In addition, there is no ragging and seniority here like some other institution out there. It's was a wonderful orientation week after all.

Besides that, I really like the environment here which is fully air conditioning. The people either local student or international student are so friendly and helpful. For your information, the facilities here are all well equipped too. There is a big library, comfortable for the student to study or make a group discussion over there. Besides, UNITEN do not only focus on academic, but it also focuses on curriculum. There are also gymnasium, swimming pool, equestrian park, futsal court, badminton court, jamming room provided for the students.

SIFE

Hye Guys ! What is SIFE?

Well, I bet most of you guys out there still wondering what is SIFE and what it is all about right? So, here I will share to you guys some of the overview of SIFE.

Mission

To bring together the top leaders of today and tomorrow to create a better, more sustainable world through the positive power of business.

About SIFE

SIFE is an international non-profit organization that works with leaders in business and higher education to mobilize university students to make a difference in their communities while developing the skills to become socially responsible business leaders.

Participating students form teams on their university campuses and apply business concepts to develop outreach projects that improve the quality of life and standard of living for people in need.

It is an annual series of regional and national competitions provides a forum for teams to present the results of their projects, and to be evaluated by business leaders serving as judges. As for uniten, three group (Speaker, Technical, Report ) work together to form one strong SIFE uniten team. So here are some of the National champion teams advance to the prestigious SIFE World Cup that Uniten has been participated.

And for your information guys, we won the elusive SHELL Champion Cup in 2009. When the competition was first held in 2007, we won second place. While in 2008, we came third, thus in 2009 with hard work, sheer dedications, we made it beating UiTM, UTP, USIM, UniKL, USM and UMT.

One of our SIFE UNITEN members, Khairul Faizi Mohamed invented an eco-friendly device for aqua application called ECO-AF. This device is used for fish feeding in ponds, fish cages in lakes and rivers and fish aquariums. The project has the following objectives: to introduce ECO-AF in fish culture, to increase the income of fish breeders using ECO-AF, to preserve the environment by using renewable energy and to market the ECO-AF to the local and global market thus fulfilling the criteria needed in the competition.

THE FACILITIES IN UNITEN

Facilities in Uniten. So cool !

UNITEN has a range of amenities for the students such as library, mosque, social and sports, food court, and transportation.

1. Library (main library in UNITEN, Campus Putrajaya)
 
This library has 6 levels and collect various on subject such as computer science, information technology and   engineering. Uniten's library is the biggest in Asia.

UNITEN has alot of food court in every college . For example, in the College of Information Technology,    College of Engineering, administrative building and library .UPTEN a food court which is near to  Kelompok Ilmu and Kelompok Amanah is the biggest food court in campus.In UPTEN, besides the food court there are grocery stores,printing stores, laundry shops and book stores.

4. Shuttle Bus Service

 Provide facilities to students who do not have a vehicle to move around campus.

5. Sport

In UNITEN there football field, equestrian, gymnasium, and for those who like to swim there is a swimming pool. In UNITEN students are trained to always be active in co-curricular activities.

A Green Technology Automotive Engineering innovation project is nothing new to UNITEN lecturers and students. It was initiated by a team of electrical engineer lecturers led by Mr. Halil Hussain, Assoc. Prof. Ismail Said and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Amir Hisham Hashim. The lecturers and a team of students build the first homebred car fully utilizing solar power. The Solar Ranger 1 was built and took part in the World Solar Challenge in Australia in October 2009. In 2011, the Solar Ranger II was assembled. Driven by spirit of exploration, learnt from the previous participation, more innovations were applied for betterment of the second solar ranger to compete in the World Solar Challenge 2012.

Recently, UNITEN was selected and awarded by Proton to develop a green technology automotive engineering in The Green Mobility Challenge 2012. The challenge is to innovate and built electric car for local automotive industry. A Proton Saga was given to each of the ten participating universities in Malaysia to be converted into a fully electric-powered car.

A team was assembled under the supervision of a team of lecturers in both technical and marketing aspects to meet up with the challenge. UNITEN's team built the Saga 2EV which runs with no gas but batteries. The development has being brought further to be tested on Sepang International Circuit Malaysia. UNITEN is proud to share the birth of our first locally developed electric vehicle built by the students and lecturers of the university.

Now you see that UNITEN is amazing and super genius in producing the product that can make our country proud and helpful someday. There's a lot of product that I want to share with you guys. See you in the next entry ! :)

THE ACTIVITIES IN UNITEN

UNITEN's Open Day !

Hi guys ! Hope everything is well. Now for this entry, I would like to announce some important thing here. Guess what? Yes UNITEN's OPEN DAY ! Awesome ! UNITEN's Open Day 2013 will be held on this weekend 23 of March 2013, in Putrajaya Campus.

UNITEN is offering more than 3000 places for this May 2013 Intake and is inviting all students with Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) and Sijil Tinggi Persekolahan Malaysia (STPM) to come to UNITEN's Open Day 2013 for an insight to their higher education opportunities.

It also will open its doors to prospective students and general public to learn more about the available programmes in Engineering and Information Technology. You may also take a short trip around our Putrajaya Campus which comprises student apartments, colleges, and the library that will enable all visitors to get a full flavor of UNITEN's learning atmosphere and its state-of-art facilities.

The highlight of the event would of course be the 50% discount on the application processing fees to those who come and apply on this day at UNITEN's Putrajaya Campus.  However, this offer is limited and applicable only on 23 March 2013 and for local students only. Reflection About Uniten (Part 2)


Hello peeps ! For this entry, I would like to talk about the Part 2 Of Reflection about Uniten. For your information, Uniten received many awards so that it can open the parents eyes to encourage their children to study at Uniten. Beside that, international student also will feel high confiden and have good expectation about Uniten itself.

This is because, Uniten has achieved many awards as my group members had post about it in the entry in this blog. But I would like to add some of the achievement that Uniten receive, as an additional information for you guys so that you all will know how successful amazing Uniten is until they are able to get international awards too.

UNITEN WINS PLATINUM AWARDS AT IQPC 2012 INDONESIA 

Universiti Tenaga Nasional (UNITEN) has received three Platinum Awards for ISO 9001 : 2008 UNITEN, 5S UNITEN, and 5S UNITMOSQUE at the award presentation ceremony for Temu Karya Mutu & Produktivitas Nasional (TKMPN) XVI and International Quality & Productivity Convention (IQPC) 2012 in Matara Lombok, Indonesia. These awards are in recognition of sustained and continuous commitment by organisations management and is organised by Wahana Kendali Mutu in conjunction with Associations Management Mutu & Production Indonesia Department of Man Power & Transmigration of Indonesia, The Ministry of Industry of Republic Indonesia, Asian Productivity Organization and Asia Pacific Quality Organization.

UNITEN was represented by Mohamad Ishak B. Mohamad Ibrahim, Director, Centre for Organisational Excellence and Quality Management and Shamsul Badli B.Yusof (lecturer). A total number of 1166 participants with 252  projects participated in this international convention, including representatives from Indonesia, Malaysia and Singapore.

ACCOMODATION

                          

Universiti Tenaga Nasional,Putrajaya Campus not only provides a conducive place to study but also provide  a condusive accommodation for students.The residence can accommodate up to 3, 800 students. Students will prefer to stay in the campus itself especially those without transportation. Staying in campus ease students activity and movement, and not only that its also very safe as the students apartments are guarded 24hours. The rate of rental per semester is also very reasonable and cheap as compared to renting an apartment outside campus. There are four students residence. These residence is called Kelompok. Two of the residence are  for girls(Kelompok Ilmu nad Kelompok Murni) and another two are for boys   (Kelompok Amanah and Kelompok Cendikiawan).There are three types of apartment which is one with single bedroom, another is twin sharing and also apartment for married students. Each  apartment has a living room,dining room, kitchen,bathroom and bedroom. In addition each apartment in UNITEN provides internet port for students to surf internet .

UNITEN is one of the best universities in Malaysia. UNITEN especially UNITEN Putrajaya Campus is specified only  for engineering courses expect for in the newly build Muadzam Shah campus, courses such as accounting and business management is offered. There are various type of engineering courses offered here. 

For foundation and undergraduate engineering students in Putrajaya Campus, College Of Engineering(COE) and College Of Information Technology are the main colleges. Lecturers has to play an outstanding role in a college. This is because the quality of teaching determines the knowledge gained by the students after a class and it also determines their grades.

Lecturers in UNITEN have excellent educational background. Most  of the lecturers here are pHd and Masters holder.Many of them has also develop even to Proffesor Madya the Professor and etc. UNITEN selects lecturers based on their working experiences, their performances,theri educational background, their character and etc.

Lectures in UNITEN are very helpful, proffesional, and also friendly. They pay alot of attention towards the students while in class and during personal discussions. They do not hesitate to help students as they held alot of extra classe and clinics for those who are weak. They treat students professionally and with manner.
The lecturers in UNITEN are of different races and they come from all over the country. It is easy for students who come from various nations and nationalities to communicate with.

REFLECTION ABOUT UNITEN

Reflection About Uniten (Part 1)

First of all, I would like to talk about the Uniten's library. Uniten's library is acknowledge as the biggest library in Asia. Uniten's library itself has won many awards. Students feel harmony and peaceful when they do group studies in Uniten's library because it provides a conducive environment for learning. Library officers are also very friendly and helpful. This shows that the services that have been provided by the Uniten's library is good and satisfy the user need. 

Other than that, the programmes that has been offered so far has achieved the target and requirements. 

The facilities provided is very good, standard and also can grab the attention of the student .Uniten's library uses database systems for browsing, borrowing and returning of books, its very systematic. Uniten's library also welcome outsiders  who are interested.
